"The B&B is very good, with a great location and beautiful surroundings. The decoration is in Mediterranean style, full of exotic atmosphere, making guests feel like they are in Greece. The rooms are clean and hygienic, with complete facilities, including conference rooms, billiard rooms, KTV pools, chess and card rooms and other entertainment facilities. I had a lot of fun and stayed comfortably."

Hotel near Pudong Jinqiao District,Shanghai
"The time for this business trip was a bit tight. This hotel is close to Pudong Airport, about 20 minutes by car. The check-in efficiency was very high, about three minutes, and the questions were answered patiently. When checking in, there was a small welcome fruit in the room, just enough for one person. The breakfast was also very rich. There were not many people eating breakfast at around 8 o'clock, and it didn't feel like a busy city. The room was large and tidy, with a desk and recliner. It is highly recommended for business trips."

"Serviced apartments are the best for traveling with kids. There is a parking lot downstairs, connected to the Woge Plaza, which is very convenient for food, accommodation and transportation. The room layout is also very similar to the Somerset I stayed in Thailand. The balcony is large and feels like home. Because I stayed with my baby, the hotel also gave me a late check-out until 2 o'clock. Thank you very much!"

Hotel near Shanghai Disney Resort,Shanghai
"There were many B&Bs to choose from when booking, and I chose this one with a score of 5. It was really good! First of all, the house is clean and not far from Disney. It is more interesting to stay in a B&B with children than in a hotel. Second, the boss's service attitude is very good. He drove us to Disney. Although breakfast was not included in the reservation, he also provided free breakfast. It is very humane. When we left the store, the boss had a cold and could not drive us to the subway station. He also took the initiative to send us a red envelope to take a taxi. Where can you find such a good boss! In short, I am very satisfied and will choose this place again when I come to Disney in the future! A little suggestion: It is better to hang a curtain in the bathroom, otherwise it will be inconvenient to take a bath if you take older children out."

The homestay provides free bycicles, there is a swimming pool, delicious breakfast, it’s conveniently located from the lake, you can ride there within 10 mins. Also the space provides BBQ zone. Loved it! Highly recommend to everyone for a visit."

"The Good Points: The young lady at reception for check-in was lovely -Polite, smiling, efficient and a pleasure to deal with - She is an absolute credit to the hotel 👍 The bedrooms are large The shower in the bathroom was very good 👍 The breakfast was ok 👍 Close to lots of local restaurants 👍 The Bad Points: The hotel is quite old and worn now with things you notice such as carpets dirty, things generally broken etc. I was stood in the looby searching for a shopping mall on my phone map, and was approached by 2 (a man and a woman) hotel management staff to offer help - When it got too difficult for them to help, they gave up and just walked off 🤷♂️ - These 2 members of staff have almost zero understanding of customer service The Worst Point: You could suffocate to death in this hotel - There is no air conditioning in the corridors and the air conditioning in the rooms does not cool the room - When I put the air conditioning on in my room the room temperature was 24 degrees, I set the air conditioning to cooling and 16 degrees as it was so hot, but the room temperature increased to 25 degrees 🤦♂️ The hotel lobby was unbearable because of the heat and lack of air - In the morning after breakfast in the lobby restaurant, I was so hot I had to take a 2nd shower to cool off. Of the 2 lifts in the hotel, 1 had working air conditioning, so I used to ride the lift to cool down! Because of the heat in my bedroom, I could not sleep well and consequently had a tough day at work as I was tired My colleague had the same complaints about the hotel and his bedroom Staying in this hotel is very uncomfortable and unhealthy because of the heat and poor air conditioning - You will not get a good rest staying in this hotel"

"The goddesses' outing said to leave, and accidentally found this exotic-style homestay on Trip.com . It is located along the town of Chongming Port. The road used to drive there is a nursery base. The eyes are full of strange flowers and plants, and the shape is beautiful. The hotel is fully equipped with various entertainment equipment, standard American black eight billiard table, more than many homestays, there are table tennis tables, the homestay is full of exotic punch cards. The rooms are also clean and hygienic, each room is decorated in a different style, the bedding is very comfortable, the details are very good, and the service and facilities are directly forced to a five-star hotel. I can feel super intimate and thoughtful in the homestay. From departure to check-in, the whole butler service, in the middle of the night, we want to add a meal, the housekeeper sister personally cooks, thank you very much. I highly recommend Chongming's net red homestay Muyangli. By the way, their swimming pool is really big. Unlike most homestays, the swimming pool is big. In fact, it is a puddle. In summer, our sisters meet for a bikini party. Strongly recommend this Muyangli homestay again"

"I had a fantastic stay at Citadines Songhong Shanghai and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. One of the standout features for me was the exceptional cleanliness of the entire property—from the lobby to the room, everything was spotless and well-maintained. It gave me real peace of mind and made the stay all the more comfortable. The location is also super convenient, with easy access to public transport, restaurants, and shops. Whether you’re in Shanghai for business or leisure, this location puts you in a great spot to get around the city with ease. Another major plus was the in-room washing machine. It made a huge difference, especially for a longer stay. Being able to do laundry right in the room was so convenient and really elevated the experience—it’s these thoughtful amenities that set Citadines apart. All in all, Citadines Songhong exceeded my expectations. Clean, convenient, and comfortable—I’ll definitely be coming back!"

Best Shanghai Travel Guide: All You Need to Know

Best Shanghai Travel Guide for First-time Visitors

Shanghai, or “Hu” as the locals call it, is perched right at the mouth of the Yangtze River. Sure, it’s famous for its fast-paced business vibe and skyline, but honestly, there’s so much more to discover here beyond the glitz and glass towers.

Getting to and Around Shanghai

Alright, so you’re all set to explore Shanghai! Let’s talk about how to get there and get around. No matter if you’re flying, taking a train, or even arriving by bus, getting to Shanghai is as easy as it gets.

If you’re flying, Shanghai’s got two main airports: Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA). Honestly, both airports are super convenient—it just depends on where you’re flying in from or heading to next.

Pudong Airport is about 45 kilometers from downtown and handles most international flights. You can get to the city by metro, an airport bus, or if you’re feeling fancy, the Maglev Train—it’s fast and kinda cool!

On the other hand, Shanghai Hongqiao airport is just 15 kilometers from the city center and mostly deals with domestic flights. You’ve got metro lines 2 and 10 to zip you straight to city.

Consider staying at one of the hotels near the PVG airports that offer shuttle services. It’s a lifesaver, especially when you’re tired from traveling or catching a red eye flights.

Best Districts to Stay in Shanghai

If you’re not sure where to stay, areas like Nanjing Road, or Jing’an District are great options.

Look, if you're visiting Shanghai for the first time, do yourself a favor and stay near Nanjing Road. I've had countless friends visit, and this area never disappoints! You'll be right next to The Bund, surrounded by amazing food spots, and the subway can zip you anywhere in the city.

Sure, Jing'an is lovely with its temples and fancy malls, Changning District is also really chill with beautiful parks like Shanghai Zoo and the beautiful Zhongshan Park.

Top Things to Do in Shanghai: Shanghai Disneyland

Top Things to Do in Shanghai

Here are several top attractions for first-time visitors to explore!

Shanghai Disneyland: Shanghai Disneyland, opened in 2016, is Disney’s first park in mainland China. It's the only Disney park in the world to have a Zootopia-themed land, where you can join Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde on an exciting ride called “Zootopia: Hot Pursuit.” Plan your visit on a weekday if possible to avoid long queues.

The Bund: The Bund, stretching 1.5 kilometers (0.9 miles) along the Huangpu River, is the most symbolic spot of the city. Running from Waibaidu Bridge to Nanpu Bridge, it’s known for its gorgeous collection of 52 historic buildings in styles like Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism, and Renaissance.

Yu Garden: For a glimpse of Shanghai’s traditional side, Yu Garden is the place to be. This 400-year-old garden is filled with elegant pavilions, koi ponds, and rockeries that create a peaceful escape from the city’s buzz. Just outside, the bustling bazaar offers everything from souvenirs to local snacks.

RReiseplanerThis hotel is a gem. The location is perfect (less than a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro station and plenty of coffee and restaurant options in the area; count ~1.5h to and from PVG airport), the room and shared facilities (bonus point for the toilet paper that is better than many 4-star and 5-star hotels) are spotless clean, the bed is comfortable (different pillows are even provided), and the price/value ratio is almost unbeatable. There is even free tea and drinking water available. Please note that having taken the upper bed window room, packing a bag can be a challenge compared to the lower bed one I imagine. Also, all usb ports available are USB A. Few points can be improved: the windows let a flow of air coming in even if closed (the duvet is warm though), a little usb bed light would be useful (as it is not convenient to turn off the lights once in bed, have to do it before), the tv didn’t work in my case but that wasn’t an issue for me, the towels are disposable and normal towels would be a huge plus (pack a small towel should you want one), and lastly, whilst there’s no noise permeating in-between rooms, corridor movements can be easily heard (nothing that earplugs cannot solve). Overall 10/10.

จารุวรรณDisappointing Experience at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from the luxury service I expected. 1. Discrimination at Flair Rooftop Restaurant On my first night, I visited Flair, the hotel's rooftop restaurant. Before going, I was told at the lobby that the restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations. However, when I arrived at around 5:50 PM, the restaurant was only 20% occupied, yet the host told me it was ”fully booked.” Then, the host questioned my intent, asking whether I was there for drinks or dinner. When I said ”dinner,” he suddenly mentioned a 1,600-yuan minimum spending requirement. I agreed without hesitation and ended up spending over 2,200 yuan. But what truly bothered me was the initial rejection and the selective enforcement of the minimum charge, implying that I was being judged based on my appearance or nationality. If the restaurant was truly full, why was I offered a table once I confirmed I would spend a significant amount? 2. Misleading Room Upgrade Offer & Hidden Promotions When I checked in, I had already booked a suite with a city view for around 4,000 yuan. However, the receptionist tried to upsell me a Pearl Tower view for an additional 3,300 yuan, which is an unreasonable price just for a different view. What’s worse is that she failed to inform me about an existing hotel promotion: (cant remember the amount exactly) If I pre-purchased 1,000 yuan, I could use 1,400 yuan at Flair rooftop restaurant. I only found out about this the next day and when I asked whether I could retroactively apply this promotion to my bill (which was charged to my room), I was told it was not possible because I had to buy the package in advance. Had I known about this offer beforehand, I would have gladly used it. Instead, the staff prioritized upselling me a more expensive view rather than informing me of real benefits available to hotel guests. 3. Concierge Service & Taxi Nightmare The service at the concierge was another major disappointment. I had a reservation at a Chinese restaurant across the river and asked the concierge to arrange a taxi for me. Knowing that taxis in Shanghai can be unreliable and tricky (as I had experienced the night before with an airport taxi taking me to three wrong hotels and turning off the meter), I was relieved when the concierge used Didi (a ride-hailing app) to book a ride. However, when the car arrived, the concierge instructed a bellboy to walk me to the car, but he never confirmed whether it was actually mine. Just as the door was closing, a woman with luggage rushed in, claiming it was her ride to the airport. It turned out the car was not for me but for an entirely different passenger! At this point, I was already late for my dinner reservation. When I walked back to the concierge to ask what happened, he seemed irritated and dismissively said, ”Don’t worry” before reluctantly walking me to the correct car. This lack of professionalism and carelessness was incredibly frustrating. If you’re arranging a ride for a guest, ensure they get into the correct car. Final Thoughts This all happened in just one night—I can't imagine what else could go wrong during my stay. I sincerely hope no other guests have to go through such an experience. The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for its luxury and top-tier hospitality, but what I encountered was discriminatory treatment, misleading sales tactics, and poor service coordination. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service, ensuring all guests receive fair and professional treatment, regardless of their appearance or nationality. Ps: nice swimming pool by the way!!

GGuest UserThe room was amazing with a stunning view. On the whole it was a fantastic stay but there were one or two issues- 1. The yoga mats in the gym were filthy. And 2. I was bothered on a few occasions by cleaners or people coming to knock on the door e.g.the cleaner came inside the room even though I said it was too late and I didn't want the room to be cleaned now. It was around 5pm and no one had cleaned the room during the day, but by that time I was ready to relax. There was a language barrier so she just came in and started replacing snacks and drinks and tried to start cleaning up in the bathroom and I had to ask her to leave. I noticed before I left that there was a button for 'do not disturb' but it wasn't obvious so it would be good for the staff to mention that when showing you to your room. I also think it's a good idea for them to have a book with information regarding the restaurant, gym, spa etc.etc. there's some info on the TV but it isn't very detailed.

GGuest UserWe booked a Parent-Kid Suite, which was advertised to accommodate four adults, but throughout our stay, only three towels were provided. Additionally, the only bathroom is located right next to one of the bedrooms, with no door and a fully transparent shower space. This setup is extremely awkward and inconvenient unless you’re traveling with very young children. The noise from the bathroom also inevitably disturbs whoever is sleeping in that bedroom. Another disappointment was the check-in process. We arrived at the hotel around 4 PM, but the front desk informed us that our room was still not ready due to a late check-out from the previous guests. This was frustrating, especially after a long flight, as we had expected to check in on time and freshen up immediately. That said, aside from the strange room layout, the hotel does have its positives. The location is great, with a partial view of The Bund, and the price is reasonable for this area. Overall, while the hotel has potential, the room design and service need improvement.
