5 Types of Europe Rail Lines

1. Cross-Border Rail Lines

Cross-border rail lines are crucial for connecting major European cities across different countries. Typically, you won't even realize when you've crossed a border due to the smooth transitions. However, occasional passport checks might occur on board, especially when traveling beyond the Schengen Area to regions in the south or east of Europe. These checks are generally quick, and you don't need to allocate extra time for them.

2. High-Speed Rail Lines

High-speed rail lines represent the pinnacle of European rail engineering, enabling passengers to travel between major cities at speeds that can rival or surpass air travel.

The Eurostar, for instance, is a prime example, linking London with cities like Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam at speeds of up to 300 km/h via the High Speed 1 (HS1) line. The Eurostar, with its British-designed asynchronous AC drive system, differs from the TGV's synchronous drive technology, illustrating the diversity in high-speed rail engineering.

Moreover, while the Eurostar connects the UK with mainland Europe, the Jungfrau Railway holds the title for the highest rail line in Europe, winding its way to the Jungfraujoch at an altitude of 3,454 meters.

Night trains are a unique and efficient way to travel across Europe, offering the comfort of sleeping compartments and the convenience of waking up at your destination. These trains are a popular choice for budget-conscious travelers and those looking to maximize their travel time by avoiding daytime journeys.

4. Regional and Intercity Rail Lines

Regional and intercity rail lines form the backbone of Europe’s transportation network, connecting rural areas and smaller cities with major urban centers. These lines are indispensable for daily commuters and provide a vital service for tourists looking to explore lesser-known parts of Europe.

Unlike high-speed trains, these services often stop at smaller stations. Regional trains in countries like Germany (S-Bahn) and France (TER) are known for their reliability and frequent services, making them a preferred choice for short-distance travel.

5. Scenic & Tourist Rail Lines

Scenic and tourist rail lines offer travelers a unique way to experience Europe’s natural beauty and historical sites from the comfort of a train. These routes are often slow-paced, allowing passengers to fully immerse themselves in the landscapes.

The Glacier Express is known as the "slowest express train in the world," taking around 8 hours to cover 291 km, but every minute offers stunning views of the Swiss Alps. These trains are popular among tourists, photographers, and nature enthusiasts who want to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

I went there to confess my love. Miss Stella was very attentive and helped a lot. She was very nice. The hotel environment was very good. You can also see the night view at night. Some rooms can also see the sunrise. It is 40 floors high, so it should be very good to see the sunrise. It's a pity that it rained today and I didn't see it. I will stay there again if I have the chance. In short, thank you

The check-in experience was very good. The hotel housekeeper Xiao Hu contacted in advance to arrange the room. He also prepared children's toys for the children and arranged a room facing south to see the garden. The service was very good and satisfactory. The balcony of the room had a wide view. The room was very warm and had children's decorations. The children liked it very much. The bed was large and comfortable to sleep in. It was also very quiet at night. There was no car noise. The room could get sun and the room was warm and bright. The breakfast was rich and varied and tasted good. The experience was beyond expectations. I will come again next time

I arrived late, after 11 o'clock, and was upgraded to a suite for free. It was very large, quiet and clean. The key is that I don't have to go downstairs to pick up the express delivery. The robot delivers the food. Considering that I haven't eaten yet, the lady at the front desk was very nice and arranged for the robot to deliver it to me in advance. I forgot to issue an invoice when I returned to Shanghai. Manager Zhang at the front desk was very enthusiastic and quickly issued an invoice through WeChat. The overall experience is very good, and I recommend staying here.

The air conditioning in the room was not good. I slept so hot on the first night. The air conditioning was turned on all night but it didn't work. The more I slept, the hotter it got. When I booked the hotel, I used the Ctrip Platinum membership benefit, which said that I could check out at 3 pm. I asked the front desk, although I could check out at 3 pm, the hotel said that they did not have this benefit.

I accompanied my wife to Jinhua to watch a concert and chose a few recommended hotels! It was great. The hotel pays great attention to service details. You can get drinking water and fruit on the first floor. The room was upgraded to a suite, and there are free refrigerator snacks and drinks. The slippers are relatively thick, the mattress is comfortable and soft, and the pillows are especially comfortable. The breakfast buffet area has average dishes, no merits or demerits, but the freshly cooked noodles stall makes up for the shortcomings. There is an on-demand self-service cabinet at the elevator entrance, and all services are fully equipped. Five-star praise, one-click triple.

The hotel has a central location and is next to a large shopping mall, so there is everything you need within a few minutes of walk. The room is spacious, and is on the 23th floor, so it has a good view and quiet. The hotel is well-equipped in general. The staff were friendly and efficient. I have stayed in so many hotels, but this is the first time I encountered the most speechless one. It may be that the workload was heavy due to the full house during holidays. First of all, from the check-in, when I stood at the front desk, two staff members saw me and ignored me at the same time. One was busy with something, and the other, who was checking in, saw that his colleague ignored me, so he hurriedly greeted me. His attitude was still okay. Secondly, the blinds in the bathroom of the executive room were broken. I went to the front desk to report it. I told the situation, but the front desk ignored me without even raising his head, and stood there awkwardly. . After a long while, the person at the next workstation asked me if I had anything to do, so I had to repeat it again. . Finally, breakfast is something you have to grab. I went to eat at more than 8:30, but there was nothing I wanted. In the end, I only had a fried dough stick and a bowl of soy milk. .

Yes, very cost-effective, clean and tidy, rich breakfast, delicious noodles, it should be the best hotel in that area. Is it possible to make a rain shelter over the chairs on the terrace, or use wicker chairs with holes or something like that? I didn’t pay attention at first, but I sat down and felt instantly chilled! Luckily I had a change of clothes. I hope the hotel can improve this shortcoming.

Stepping into this hotel is like stepping into a carefully crafted dream space. The warm smile of the front desk staff instantly dispelled the fatigue of the journey. The room design is simple but warm, and every detail shows quality and style. The bed is moderately soft and hard, and a good night's sleep until dawn makes people refreshed. The hotel's catering service is also excellent, with a wide variety of breakfasts, including Chinese hot porridge and fried dough sticks, as well as Western bread and coffee, which satisfies all my fantasies about food. What's more worth mentioning is that the hotel has an excellent location, surrounded by surrounding attractions and shopping centers, and travel is extremely convenient. The most impressive thing is the cleanliness of the hotel. Whether it is the public area or the interior of the room, it is kept spotless, making people feel at ease and comfortable. In short, this hotel experience exceeded my expectations. Whether it is service, facilities or location, I am very satisfied. If you are also looking for a comfortable and convenient place to stay, then this hotel is definitely your best choice. Highly recommended to every friend who loves traveling! I want to stay again. One thing to say, one thing to say, and one thing to say. 🌿 Advantages: The whole homestay environment is good, bamboo forests, vegetation, water sound, summer resort. It is very close to Lunv Lake and the observation deck, especially Lunv Lake is very good, highly recommended! The butler recommended the surrounding places to me and reminded me of the breakfast time. This is a good review. 🥀 Insufficient: 1. The problem of the room. We started to set the 1580 water shirt alone, but after arriving, we found a room with tatami, two cushions, no balcony, no desk, no screen, no bathtub, a wooden barrel, a big gap from the expected. So communicated with the housekeeper, wanted to see the bamboo, just the bamboo was not booked, the bamboo has three small round rooms, at least the screen, there is a bathtub, there is a sofa, that is not as good as living in the bamboo, after communication, the boss also agreed. Later, it was the difference. At that time, when we booked the bamboo bamboo was 1024. The housekeeper said that there was a screenshot, but when we booked, we didn't expect to change the room at all. There was no screenshot. Later, the boss said that the price of the day was 1179, and the difference was 401. The next day, the front desk told us directly that the difference of 200 could be refunded. Very depressed, communication for a long time, and finally refunded 400. 2. Drinking problem. I put a bathtub to see a jar of yellow water, and asked to know, it is ”mountain spring water”, I think this can be explained in advance. Later, I wanted to boil water and make a coffee. I asked to know that the whole house is ”mountain spring water”. If you want to burn drinking water, you can go to the front desk to pick up the water. I don't understand this. Filtered yellow spring water, I dare not drink. To drink pure water, I have to go to the front desk to pick it up. This is the room of 1179. Ben said that the coffee was sent, and I asked myself to take it. It was fine, but I went to find the two sisters at the front desk sitting there. I don't know why I promised to send it, and I don't want to send it to me. 3. The room facilities are general, the air conditioner outside the air conditioner is loud at night, and the bathroom is connected to the bedroom. There is no door in the middle. The bathroom curtains are such a layer of cloth, not shading, so in the morning, the room is lighted. This is not friendly for people who don't like to sleep bright.

Great stay experience, which can make guests feel like they are on vacation and relax. Service: The front desk butler will contact you first and send you information related to your stay, so you can plan activities in advance. If you need it, you can communicate and help in a timely manner. Every employee in the resort makes people feel warm, and I won't be too deliberate. There is also a bamboo shoot digging activity, which harvested the spring delicacies given by the staff~ Hygiene: The room is very clean, the bedding is flawless, and you can sleep with peace of mind. Environment: It is located on the mountain. It used to be a village. The environment is very good. Between the mountains and rivers, I like the layout of the public area. The glass room can bask in the sun and look down at the stream in winter. The creativity of the root lamp above the study is pleasing. Facilities: The swimming pool, gym, and study are all available. We also experienced baking and made peach cakes. After the joy of hands-on, we can taste the food. We also experienced the barista activity. The calligraphy and chess in the study brought a lot of fun to the family. In the future, you can invite three or five friends or family to come for vacation again.

The glass partition between the bathroom and shower room in the room we stayed in leaked water and the sound insulation was not good. I'm not familiar with the road on the first day, and it's hard to find it in the dim light. If you get lost, the housekeeper will pick you up. I went shopping in the old street in the evening. When I came back, I saw the staff member Ms. Chen in the gate parking lot. She took the initiative to take photos for my mother and me. She was very enthusiastic! The breakfast on the first day of my stay was a buffet, which was delicious and had many varieties. After the second day, it was changed to a portioned meal. I was not full and there were not as many varieties as the first day. If the portion is not full, you can add noodles, but the noodles taste average. Jing Yuan looks better in a skirt when taking photos.

It is a particularly good homestay! ! ! The boss and the clerk are very friendly. The breakfast is rich and delicious. The room will be delivered regularly. The mountain view of the hot spring is super beautiful and very popular. You can play pottery cats here for free. I heard that there are fruits in the mountains in May. Dinner is also recommended, hand-teared cabbage pot is fragrant, chicken is eaten cherries free-range, and there is a strong fragrant raspberry wine to drink in winter is very exciting.

A lovely traditional Cambodian style hotel. The young staff are friendly and enthusiastic. There’s lots of wooden features and a wildly over cluttered lobby. The laneway leading to the hotel can be a little dodgy and littered with rubbish. Breakfast was served on the rooftop and quite good with plenty of choices. The rooftop pool and restaurant are both lovely and the service and food were appreciated. My room seemed fine but there’s no powerpoint near the bed and the shower set up is weird. Do house staff ever check the batteries in the TV remote? No balcony as stated in the Trip booking. Avoid the over charging Tuk Tuk drivers out front and call a GRAB for better value transportation.

I live in Singapore. I was looking for a hotel with a bathtub because I live in a room with only a shower, and I found a hotel with an open-air bath. The hotel's open-air bath was really nice, and I had the best experience while in Phnom Penh. The only disappointment was that the women-only time was late at night. When I asked the front desk, they told me that the ratio of customers was almost all male, so it was only for men. I protested about that, but in the end the open-air bath was so good that it was fine. There were also many types of breakfast to choose from, and they were all elaborate, so I had a hard time deciding. I chose Japanese food, and the salted mackerel was better than the one I had in Japan. I was also surprised that I could watch Japanese channels on TV. I was able to watch it in real time, so I stayed up late watching it. I was so relaxed that I forgot I was in Phnom Penh.

Roof top The major attraction of this hotel is the roof top Sky bar / pool / terrace / restaurant The view on the central avenue with the famous sightseeing- The Monument of Independence- is incredible as well as the 360 degrees skyline of PhnomPenh. The room was really spacious, but what amused me mostly was the bathtub in the bedroom, by the panoramic windows, in front of the bed. That’s quite naughty, but why not. Breakfast was served on the roof terrace, which is fantastic addition to the meal, coz u may enjoy the sunrise right at the same time. Location is good too, average distance to main spots is no more than 2 km. Tuk tuk service is no more than a 1 minute away. Stayed for the third time at this hotel in the space of 7 months! Love it so much, I keep coming back 😊 . As usual, friendly, amazing, efficient service from all staff starting at check-in and felt by all other staff members, especially cleaning, security and restaurant staff at Cloud 9. Reception staff are always smiling, friendly and happy to help. Cleaning is done well and daily. Room service and Cloud 9 staff are friendly and quick. Staff mostly speak English so not a difficulty at all communicating. Check in and out is so quick and easy! As always the pool is clean, quiet and well maintained. Room service and food at the hotel is top quality. Certainly, the spa is worth every cent and not that much more expensive than venturing out. Of course, you could get cheaper but the quality and environment at the hotel spa is truly serene, tranquil and top notch luxury! Convenient shopping and food a plenty around the hotel and close to the riverside. Though it’s located close to the red 🚦 light district, security is exceptional and the area itself is not dangerous (keep your wits about you and valuables close regardless). The only small drawback is the room lighting, although there are many lights, the yellow lighting can be quite dim especially around the sink area (ladies be warned, not so easy to apply makeup lol 😂) but this is a small thing. Overall, this remains my hotel of choice whenever in Phnom Penh! Thank you for yet another wonderful stay at your amazing hotel!

The hotel is located on a very small street filled with street vendors and small local shops…I found it very difficult to find a small shop to buy cigarettes and small snacks and felt a bit nervous walking in this neighborhood at night time. The room looked like the pictures though feels much, much older in real life. I chose a deluxe room with balcony. The clerk ran out of room key cards (???) and so had to give me a physical key. The power won’t work without a room card so they gave me a business card to put in the slot. The room was fine, but I cannot give five or four stars because of two issues: the roaches (in the bathroom, on the floor, and one crawled on me in the night, in bed), and the air conditioner, which blows directly at your face making it hard to sleep. The people were very nice, they even packed breakfast for me for my early check out, but I don’t think I would stay here again.
